Description
The BMI160 is an ultra-low power 6-axis motion tracking module that combines a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope in a small form factor.
Measures acceleration and angular velocity
The on-board accelerometer provides up to ±16g measurement range for linear acceleration, while the gyroscope supports ±2000°/sec angular velocity measurement range.
Low power consumption
With configurable power modes, the BMI160 draws only 2.5μA in sleep mode, allowing extended battery operation. The accelerometer can run as low as 900μA and the gyroscope can run as low as 680 μA.
High performance motion sensing
The 16-bit triaxial sensors provide high resolution motion tracking that can detect orientations and gestures accurately. The gyroscope supports advanced features like fast start-up and robust shake detection.
Compact PCB module
The BMI160 sensor comes on a compact PCB measuring 18.7 x 13 mm and includes the sensor IC, clock, power management and all discrete components needed.
Easy to interface
Communication uses standard I2C interface up to 3.4 MHz speed. Sample code is available for interfacing with Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other MCUs to get started quickly.
Ideal for wearables and motion control
With its built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, ultra low power usage and accurate motion tracking, the BMI160 is suited for wearable devices, robotics, drones, IoT systems and more.
